No-Stress Chess compared with standard chess
No-Stress Chess keeps the board and familiar piece movement, then adds cards that limit which piece type can move. It is designed to make choosing a move less overwhelming for beginners.
Cards narrow the choices
In standard chess, any legal piece may move. Here, a drawn or selected card names the piece type you can use. Level 1 gives one card; Level 2 gives a small hand and more choice.
Capture the king instead of checkmate
This version does not use check or checkmate restrictions. Kings can remain under attack, and the game ends when a player captures the opponent's king.
What stays familiar
The game uses an 8×8 board and ordinary movement for pawns, knights, bishops, rooks, queens, and kings. It also supports basic castling, en passant, and promotion. The starting king pawns are advanced one square to open play.
